This week has had its ups and downs, like all weeks.
Some of the ups have been reconnecting with former colleagues over lunch and on hikes in the VT mountains. Other ups have been meeting new people in adjacent organizations and career paths that have been interesting and inspiring.
There’s a theme in business right now. It seems like so many good people are stuck sitting on their hands, for fear that a move may upset whatever delicate balance they are engaged in preserving. The worlds waits to see what will happen, seemingly mesmerized, forgetting that it makes what happens, happen.
My good friend Kelly Scannell gave me some great advice once, when I was in the middle of some rough waters: Fear makes you foolish, and anger is expensive. Right now, I think what the world needs is Courage, and Hope.

I saw the rabbits flee
into the long grass
full of fear of they-knew-not-what
it being only me
I turned to the crow and asked,
“What are they afraid of”
the crow replied
“they are afraid of being afraid”
