Reading Plus

So after almost 10 years in the Technology / Marketing space with LiveTechnology, I made a decision to move on to something new.  The something new is a company called Taylor Associates, and the product is called Reading Plus.  Reading Plus is online reading intervention software that helps readers process text more efficiently.

The system that forms the basis of the Reading Plus approach is at once simple and compelling.  I met Mark Taylor while grilling chicken last summer, and we started talking about our respective work.  Over the course of several months I learned more about how people process text and how that can be structured in a way to improve it gradually.

I also have made a conscious decision to blog more frequently about my work life.  To date this blog has primarily been about personal things.  The past few years have shown me that the more sharing that I’m part of, the more I learn from everyone around me.  To that end then, I will try to process as much of my daily adventures at Reading Plus and post them here, in the hopes that sharing these experiences will illuminate them for myself and others.

I’m leaving LiveTech with mixed feelings.  There have been some great times, and the friendships I formed there will definitely last for a long time.  There are a lot of special people who I have been lucky to work with, some of whom are still there but many who have moved on to other things.

But it’s not a coincidence that my blogging has slowed so much recently, and that this entry is the first since taking the promotion role. The work had become more than challenging; it had become impossible. My feedback to the team and leadership would be simple: stop chasing irresponsible promises.

Here’s to new challenges, onward and upward.
